This means that the traditional New Year’s resolutions come with a rigorous list of projects to be completed in the medium/long term, which will shape our successes in the coming years, whether at a personal, social, labour or economic level.
Señorío de Montanera has also established its own list of resolutions for 2020, along with a rigorous action plan so that the good intentions at the twelve strokes of midnight, when ending the year, are not forgotten. Our goals include highly exciting and demanding ideals, always based on recent successes. In order to prepare this list of goals, we’ve taken stock of everything that happened with our brand in the last year and we’ve selected our best projects. Best Iberian acorn-fed products
Señorío de Montanera has its own R&D&I department that works to recover recipes of traditional cured sausages from Extremadura and improve existing recipes to achieve more natural and healthier products. Thanks to this commitment to tradition and nature that is part of its corporate values, Señorío de Montanera was a pioneer in the sale of the Iberian Acorn-fed Lomo Doblado (Folded Loin) that had practically disappeared from Spanish gastronomy. At present, the Iberian acorn-fed Folded Loin and the Iberian acorn-fed cured tenderloin (Solomillo), which was launched in 2018 and is an exclusive product of Señorío de Montanera, are among the best-selling products of our online gourmet shop.
Sliced products in modified atmosphere packaging
Señorío de Montanera is aware of the professional needs in catering and of an increasingly demanding gourmet market, for which it has developed a new packaging model for its sliced Iberian products. With this modified atmosphere packaging, the best pure Iberian acorn-fed ham is able to maintain all the sensory characteristics of texture, taste and aroma for 6 months as if it were freshly sliced Iberian ham. The market’s reception of this product has been the most rewarding result of this project, which has been supported by multiple positive comments about the sliced Iberian ham from those who have tasted it.
Organic Iberian products
Señorío de Montanera has expanded its line of organic Iberian hams (which it launched in 2017) with the development of organic Iberian cured sausages: lomo, chorizo and salchichón. Organic Iberian products differ from traditional Iberian products mainly in the veterinary handling of the Iberian pig and in the manufacture of the end product, which is free from artificial preservatives or additives.
Gluten-free and lactose-free Iberian products
Within a defined strategy of innovation and development, Señorío de Montanera has eliminated allergens from its traditional recipes to obtain a complete catalogue of gluten-free and lactose-free Iberian products. To offer consumers every guarantee, the company has obtained the FACE certificate, an exclusive guarantee seal for products suitable for coeliacs.
Partnering up with the very best of each sector is always a guarantee of success. At Señorío de Montanera we are very proud of our collaboration with renowned brands and companies that have promoted the development and positioning of our product as the best Iberian ham of Extremadura.
Since the beginning of 2019, our brand can be found in the Club del Gourmet and Gourmet Experience departments of all El Corte Inglés stores in Spain and Portugal, both with whole Iberian hams and cured sausages, as well as with sliced products.
As a special Christmas present, Señorío de Montanera presented a special edition box set of its best 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham DO Dehesa de Extremadura, with a luxury bag designed exclusively by Juanjo Oliva. The result was a perfect symbiosis of gastronomy and fashion, which brought together the best of each sector in an innovative product with lots of character. The best Iberian ham for events
In recent years, Iberian ham has become the perfect host to guarantee the success of any celebration. There is no party worth going to that doesn’t involve a decent Iberian ham. In this sense, offering a quality product that lives up to those happy moments celebrated by our customers is a big responsibility for any Iberian ham brand. For this reason, at Señorío de Montanera we are very proud of being elected the best Iberian ham for weddings, birthdays or any high-profile social event.
As it happens, many customers still recall that we were the Iberian ham selected by Vogue Magazine to participate in their Vogue30 anniversary party. The 2019 events with the greatest media impact include our invitation to the Influentials Awards organised by El Confidencial, the Awards of the digital newspaper Merca2, the Yo Dona International Awards and the prestigious Personality of the Year Awards for 2019 awarded by Fuera de Serie.
Quality distinctions and awards
In recent years, the work of Señorío de Montanera as a Badajoz-based company has obtained certain special distinctions that we are particularly proud of. Recently, Señorío de Montanera was elected the Badajoz SME of the year 2019, an award organised by Banco Santander and the Badajoz Chamber of Commerce. With this special mention, Señorío de Montanera will compete for the 2019 National SME Award, whose winner will be known in the first months of 2020.
Our Iberian acorn-fed products have also received their own well-deserved recognitions of gourmet quality. In addition to the organic Iberian ham, which has a star since 2017 from the Great Taste 2017 Awards, the 100% Iberian acorn-fed ham DOP Dehesa de Extremadura and the 100% Iberian acorn-fed morcón have received awards in the London Great Taste 2018 Awards, by obtaining two stars each in the final score. The Great Taste Awards are known as the "Oscars" of international gastronomy and are organised by The Guild of Fine Food. The Great Taste logo is thus a guarantee of consumer confidence, that it is an exclusive Premium product.
2020 Silver Anniversary
With new and exciting projects on the table, the “Happy 20s” are starting with a celebration that will mark a milestone in our history: the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Señorío de Montanera. Although we have 25 years of business experience, we have actually been working as traditional breeders of Iberian pigs for many generations, working on the preservation of the pastures and the purity of the Iberian breed. We believe that it is essential to maintain, defend and transmit the benefits of biodiversity in Extremadura to foster respect for this ecosystem which is unique in the world. For this reason, the sustainability of the pastures and the respect for the Environment, will define the essence of our anniversary and will be one of the main lines in the development of our 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility.
We owe our more than 25 ‘montanera’ seasons to Dehesa de Extremadura. Bearing this in mind, we hope that in celebrating an event like the 25th Anniversary of Señorío de Montanera we are able to make history within our own history, and give back to the Environment everything that it has given us to become who we are today.
